New Work and Touring Arts

Donegal County Council is committed to working with a wide variety of local arts artists, arts groups and venues to enable a range of professional theatre and music performances to happen throughout the county.  The Council is also actively involved in the commissioning and co-funding of new performance works by Donegal artists and is especially supportive of new work which may hold a particular relevance for local audiences.

'The Weather Makers', by Inishowen Carnival Group, was supported under Donegal County Council's New Work and Touring Arts Programme

Among the professional productions created, presented and toured with the support of Donegal County Council in recent times have been shows by North West Opera (‘The Merry Widow’ by Franz Léharr, ‘La Bohème’ by Giacomo Puccini), Balor Rep Theatre Company (‘The Country Boy’ by John Murphy, ‘Women on the Verge of HRT’ by Marie Jones), Inishowen Carnival Group (‘The Weather Makers’, ‘Get Here’ and ‘Carnival Zoo’, by Inishowen Carnival Group), Workhouse Theatre (‘Aristocrats’ by Brian Friel) and Joe Brennan (‘Star Boy’ by Joe Brennan) .
